A German-French co-production is LOLA MONTEZ by Max Ophüls with Martine Carol, Adolf Wohlbrück, Peter Ustinov, Gustav Waldau and Willy Rösner. The costly film (colour, wide screen, four-channel sound) is a flop. Even now, LOLA MONTEZ is considered one of the most important films in film history. Kurt Hoffmann makes ICH DENKE OFT AN PIROSCHKA with Liselotte Pulver and Gunnar Möller. O.W. Fischer plays the title role in Helmut Käutner's LUDWIG II.
