History 1995
In February, Saxonia Media GmbH is founded in Dresden. The Managing Directors are Martin Hofmann, Deputy Head of Production of Bavaria Film for many years, and Hans-Werner Honert. The first Saxonia project is the TATORT: BOMBEN FÜR EHRLICHER. At the end of April, the new crew at the top of Bavaria Film, the Managing Directors Dr. Dieter Frank and Thilo Kleine, can once more report a positive business result for the Bavaria Film Group after a long hard haul. There is consistent staking in the expansion of TV production this year: as early as March, MARIENHOF is the market leader amongst Germany's TV dailies. In May, Uschi Reich starts the production of the three-part series VATER WIDER WILLEN with Christian Quadflieg in the role of the conductor Max Oldendorf, with whom two further series are produced in the following years. This summer, a large number of television films are produced, amongst them HELDEN HABEN´S SCHWER, one of the last movies with Klaus Wennemann in a leading role. Two new daily productions are started: In Geiselgasteig SO IST DAS LEBEN – DIE WAGENFELDS for SAT.1, in Cologne JEDE MENGE LEBEN for the ZDF. The Kölner Colonia Media announces that Dietmar Bär and Klaus J. Behrendt will replace the WDR TATORT detectives Martin Lüttge and Roswitha Schreiner from 1997. In December, Reinhard Grätz takes the chair of the Supervisory Board of the Bavaria Film GmbH, which can report a record result at the end of the year: 12,961 minutes of transmission were produced in the film city, 19,418 minutes in the entire group of companies. With the investment in a virtual studio and the set-up of the Interactive Department, Bavaria Film moves forward to the High-Tech front.
