Peter F. Bringmann films DER SCHNEEMANN on the basis of Jörg Fauser's novel of the same name. Marius Müller-Westernhagen plays the title role. For 20th Century Fox, Wolfgang Petersen produces the science-fiction film ENEMY MINE. The Free State of Bavaria obtains a 6.25 million DM holding in Bavaria Atelier GmbH via the State Institution for Set-up-Financing. The nominal capital increases to above 31 million DM. The shares of the shareholders change as follows: 40 % held by the WDR via its subsidiary Westdeutsches Werbefernsehen, 20 % the SDR via its subsidiary Rundfunkwerbung Stuttgart, 20 % Bavaria Filmkunst GmbH and 20 % the State Institution for Set-up-Financing (LfA). The director of the WDR, Friedrich Nowottny, is elected into the Supervisory Board of Bavaria Atelier GmbH and as Chairman of the Production Committee. Alex Möller resigns as Chairman of the Supervisory Board on April 22, Willy Weyer is his successor. Julie Christie and Burt Lancaster act in Bernhard Sinkel's four-part television film VÄTER UND SÖHNE. Franz Peter Wirth produces the continuation of EIN STÜCK HIMMEL with the title LICHT ÜBER DEM WASSER. Dana Vavrova plays the leading role. Robert Atzorn plays the leading role in the early evening series STAHLKAMMER ZÜRICH. The first Schimanski cinema film ZAHN UM ZAHN with Götz George is shot (director: Hajo Gies). The Bavaria Filmtour season 1985 closes with the record result of more than half a million visitors. Alex Möller dies on October 2.
